Birthday Party
Grace Modlin's "Little House on the Prairie" Birthday Party - May 2014
At the party, the hosts and party goers made butter from heavy cream, washed clothes on a washboard and hung them on the clothesline, and Mrs. Modlin read to the children "The Little House on the Prairie Birthday Book." While the girls strung beads on strings for necklaces and sewed with yarn on cheesecloth, the boys painted log cabin birdhouses. They also enjoyed playing on the old fashioned playground constructed of logs in the shape of a 6, since Grace was turning 6. They also played the game of hot potato with a real potato while listening to a CD with fiddle music. They finished the day with a visit to the country store where they could "buy" party favors, as an alternative to a pinata.
